The Beauty of a Drive

August 11th, 2009 | By Jay McGrath

By learning how to successfully drive, your game will greatly improve.  The beautiful thing about a drive, however, is that it is a part of the game that is not always necessary.  On a shorter hole, or even a longer hole, a drive is not as essential as the short game.  By learning to keep the ball in a good position, regardless of your distance, the short game will take precedent during a round.

What other people may find in poetry or art museums, I find in the flight of a good drive.”  ~Arnold Palmer

Of course, the best thing you can do is to have the distance and position on a drive.  By practicing with a golf mat and even a golf alignment mat, this can be helped.  Also, the most important part, the short game, will be able to be practiced with golf chipping mats, golf putting greens, and even limited flight balls.

Take It Out Back

August 4th, 2009 | By Jay McGrath

Many golfers are becoming reliant on the driving range to get their practice.  Instead of this, however, they could be using a backyard golf set-up that would increase their efficiency and make practice incredibly convenient for them.

“Golf is life.  If you can’t take golf, you can’t take life.”

There are a number of quotes relating golf to life, but this one rings true for many golfers.  Not being able to succeed in golf can be related to not succeeding in life.  Without practicing a certain skill set needed for a job, like golf, there is little chance for success.  That is why, with training aids like golf mats, or more specifically golf alignment mats, birdie balls, and golf putting greens, practice can be done out back and ultimately success can be had.
